In my final year of study I decided to focus on developing my skills in styling, graphics and working with interior products, as these are areas I’d like to pursue in the future. I came up with the idea of ‘Creative Makers’ and curated a small publication about celebrating different makers and the industry. The booklet was made up of interviews and styled photoshoots of the makers products.

This is my favourite project to date, I enjoyed working closely with a variety of creatives and finding out their stories. I also thrived off the creative freedom of this self directed project and it allowed me to gain skills and confidence in many areas of design.

Key skills I developed:

Interior Styling
Product Photoshoots
Photography & Lighting Skills Composition and Layout
Problem Solving and Adaptation Communication Skills
Graphical Design/Branding/Editing

Shortly after finishing the project it was picked up by the Plymouth College of Art brand team who wanted to use the project for promotional purposes.

'Lydia has created a beautiful and inspiring book to champion the creative craft industry. The book highlights student work here at PCA and also local businesses which is always needed! The book is put together in a professional way and the curation of images, copy and stories is excellent. We have decided to use Lydia's book for recruitment purposes for internal events as we believe this is an excellent example of student work and promotes the college and our Interior Design course well. We hope that the book will inspire a new wave of students to explore the creative opportunities available to them here at PCA.'
